Art School Dropout, Engineer, Geek Dad
Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Jason Gessner, but online i mostly go by plural unless some jerk has beaten me to the username. By day, i am a mild mannered ads engineer and manager for Google in Chicago. By night, well, some nights i am still that ads engineer for Google. Other nights i am a father trying to raise maker kids, a comic book nerd, a tinkerer and hacker on various small software projects. I’m an art school drop out who still takes a lot of photographs and occasionally makes cool stuff.
What hardware are you using?
27” imac, 15” mac book pro and thousands of linux servers. For my photography, I use a Canon 5D Mark II, a Yashica Mat-124G and a Holga.
And what software?
Chrome for web browsing, vim for text editing and coding, Eclipse for java, Aperture for photos.
What would be your dream setup?
I think what i have now is pretty close my dream setup, but if i were to change it up, i think i would try out an ubuntu laptop for a while and maybe i would add some bigger monitors into the mix. My office in the attic isn’t big enough for a wall of linux servers, though, so i will continue using THE CLOUD for that for now.
